(ARA) - A new survey of American women finds that spending time with friends can make them feel happier and more confident. Twice as many women believe their best friend knows them better than their parents or siblings do, and 85 percent think that a day honoring friendship is just as important as one honoring moms and dads.
Given these new insights, and in conjunction with National Friendship Day on August 5, Olay is hosting a summer contest called "Light Up Your Life." Women can upload a two-minute video describing how a close friend lights up their life to www.radianceribbons.com.
The entrant with the best video will win the grand prize trip to New York City for herself and her friend, including roundtrip airfare, hotel accommodations, a luxurious spa trip, shopping spree, and photo shoot with celebrity photographer Brie Childers.
Actress Jane Krakowski, who currently stars in the NBC hit comedy "30 Rock," joins Olay in promoting the contest and honoring the special meaning of female friendship. "I feel honored to kick off this amazing opportunity for women to create a fun, meaningful tribute to those friends that mean the world to us," says the Tony Award-winning actress. "We don't always get the chance to show our gratitude, and this contest is the perfect way to say thank you."
Contest closes August 31, 2007. The winner will be announced in October 2007. No purchase necessary. For official contest rules, visit www.radianceribbons.com.
